Please Welcome Dr. Katie White to CARS!
Some paths to medicine begin in a laboratory or a hospital. Dr. Katie White’s began in an elementary school classroom.
Before becoming a physician, Katie was a teacher, a fitting beginning for someone who would go on to be recognized for her ability to educate, mentor, and connect with others throughout her medical training.
Now, Katie brings that same curiosity, commitment to learning, and passion for helping others to CARS as our new first-year Fellow in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
A graduate of Quinnipiac University, Katie broadened her horizons by studying abroad at University College Cork in Ireland. Inspired by her mother and drawn to education, she began her professional career teaching in an elementary school before deciding to pursue medicine.
Katie returned to Quinnipiac University for medical school, where she was one of only eight medical students selected to serve on the admissions committee. She took an active role in reviewing applications, interviewing prospective students, and helping select future members of the medical school community.
She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, where she was elected Administrative Chief Resident. Teaching remained an important part of who she was. Katie received the James Egan Award for “Best Teacher” during her residency. She also contributed to the Quality Committee for the hospital’s Board and became a passionate advocate for young women with endometriosis.
Katie’s relationship with CARS began before her fellowship.
During her residency at St. Francis, she worked with our team on research examining an important question for patients over age 40: When undergoing frozen embryo transfer with a euploid embryo, do patients experience similar pregnancy rates despite having “aging ovaries”? This resulted in a publication with CARS named Ovulatory cycle frozen embryo transfer yields similar pregnancy outcomes to programmed transfer while avoiding painful injections. The findings were encouraging, demonstrating that cryo natural frozen embryo transfers can work exceptionally well for older patients. And now, that early collaboration has come full circle as Katie joins us at CARS.
Katie lives in West Hartford with her husband, son and goldendoodle and has family nearby. As she begins her fellowship, she will continue caring for our REI patients, pursuing her research interests, expanding her expertise, and doing something that has been part of her story from the beginning: sharing what she knows with others.
We look forward to our patients and team getting to know Katie and to all that she will contribute, discover, and teach during her time with us.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Katie White to CARS. We’re so glad she’s here.
