Fertility Financing and Support

At The Center for Advanced Reproductive Services (CARS), we know that fertility care is more than a medical journey — it’s deeply personal. Behind every appointment, medication, and treatment plan, there’s a story of hope, perseverance, and love. And we understand that the financial side of that story can sometimes feel overwhelming.

You’re not alone in that.

We’re here to help you make sense of your options, advocate for your coverage, and find the financial solutions that make treatment more accessible. From navigating insurance benefits to connecting with trusted lenders and grant programs, our goal is to make the path toward parenthood as clear and supported as possible.

Understanding the Cost of Care

Fertility treatment is an investment — in your health, your future, and the family you hope to build. But that doesn’t mean you should have to carry the burden alone. At CARS, we believe transparency and support go hand in hand.

When you meet with our financial counselors, you’ll have the chance to review every part of your treatment plan in detail: projected costs, potential coverage, medication pricing, and available financial assistance. We’ll help you create a plan that’s realistic, manageable, and tailored to your circumstances.

Our team’s job is to remove as much of the stress and guesswork as possible, so you can focus on what really matters — your care and your next steps forward.

Making Sense of Insurance

Insurance coverage for fertility treatments can be complicated, and every plan looks different. Some policies will cover diagnostic testing or certain medications, while others may have access to partial or full IVF coverage.

Since 2005, Connecticut law has required certain employer groups and state-regulated health plans to cover medically necessary infertility diagnosis and treatment. Age limits were removed for policies issued or renewed after January 1, 2016. In 2018, the mandate expanded further to include fertility preservation when treatment is medically necessary, including for individuals facing cancer care.

Even with this strong state mandate, coverage can vary due to plan design, employer exemptions, and federal regulations. Because of these variables, out-of-pocket costs may range significantly. A careful review of your specific policy remains the only way to understand how these laws apply to you.

To help simplify this process, we offer a dedicated insurance assistance program. Our Insurance Program Coordinators review your policy line by line, identifying opportunities for coverage and helping you understand your rights and options.

Our goal is simple: to help you access every bit of support available to you, without the frustration of navigating insurance alone.

Fertility Loans and Financing Options

If you’re exploring ways to make treatment more affordable, a fertility loan may be a good fit. CARS partners with fertility financing companies like CapexMD and PatientFi that focus exclusively on reproductive care. These trusted lenders offer competitive rates, flexible payment schedules, and options designed with you in mind.

PatientFi works directly with CARS to help patients manage expenses beyond the procedure itself. Their digital wallet option provides access to funds that can be used for treatment costs, medications, deductibles, and other related expenses, giving you flexibility throughout your care plan.

A single application opens spending access for your full course of treatment, rather than requiring repeated approvals along the way. Decisions are delivered quickly, and checking eligibility does not affect your credit profile.

Whether you’re preparing for IVF, egg freezing, or other assisted treatments, our financial counselors can walk you through the process and connect you with programs that align with your budget and timeline.

This isn’t about rushing your decision — it’s about giving you control, clarity, and confidence as you move forward.

Financial Grants for Fertility Treatment

We’re proud to work with the Nest Egg Foundation, which offers financial grants to individuals and couples who need help covering the costs of fertility treatment. This support can be life-changing — turning what once felt impossible into something beautifully within reach.

Alongside Nest Egg, several other grant and scholarship programs serve individuals and couples across Connecticut. These organizations share a common mission: expanding access to fertility care for people across a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.

Available opportunities may include regional or national programs such as:

  • BabyQuest Foundation
  • Footsteps for Fertility
  • Gift of Parenthood
  • Sparkles of Life
  • The Cade Foundation
  • The Hope for Fertility National Grant

Each organization maintains its own eligibility criteria, application timelines, and award structure.  Interested applicants should connect directly with these groups for detailed information and guidance specific to their programs.

If you’ve dreamed of building your family but have faced financial obstacles, we encourage you to explore this opportunity. Our team can help you learn more about eligibility and the application process, ensuring that you have every resource available to you.

Support for Veterans and Military Families

To honor the service and sacrifice of military families, CARS offers a reduced-cost fertility program for U.S. veterans and their spouses. This program provides access to discounted fertility medications and reduced fees for treatments such as IVF.

We believe every service member deserves the opportunity to grow their family, and we’re proud to offer options that make fertility care more accessible for those who have given so much.

Discounted Fertility Medication Programs

For many, medication costs can be one of the most challenging aspects of treatment — especially if insurance doesn’t provide a fertility drug benefit. At CARS, we’re committed to making sure you never face those costs alone.

Our team works closely with you and our pharmaceutical partners to identify the most affordable medication options available. Together, we’ll help you compare prices, find savings programs, and access discounts that reduce your out-of-pocket costs.

Everyone deserves access to care, regardless of financial background or coverage limitations.

FAQs

Does insurance usually cover fertility treatments?

Coverage varies widely by plan. Some policies include diagnostic testing or medications, while others cover full IVF cycles. Connecticut and Massachusetts both have strong state insurance bills that cover many options.

Our insurance specialists will review your plan in detail to help you understand what’s included and how to make the most of your benefits.

Can I still get financial help if my insurance doesn’t cover fertility care?

Absolutely. We work with trusted lenders, grant programs, and medication discount providers to make fertility treatment more affordable. Even without coverage, there are flexible options to help you move forward.

PatientFi allows you to pay as services arise and structure repayment on terms that feel manageable, rather than all at once. Combined with competitive rates and flexible payment schedules, this resource offers a modern way to stay financially prepared at every stage of care.

When should I speak with a financial counselor?

As early as possible. Meeting with a counselor before treatment begins allows you to explore all available resources, estimate costs, and plan ahead with clarity and confidence.
